Vlad
Tepes, (The Impaler) also known as Vlad Dracula, was
born in late 1431 in Sighisoara, a city in southern
Transylvana, now a part of present day Romania.
His father was Vlad Dracul, one of the original members
of the Order of the Dragon, established on February

stated purposes was to defend against the ‘infidel
Turks’ of the Ottoman Empire.
The historical Vlad Tepes ruled over the principality
of Wallachia during the mid-1400s. He is best known
for defeating the Ottoman Turks in the battle described
